What’s Happening! May eleven and 12, 2019

Relay for Life of the Anthracite Region will celebrate with a “Block Party on the Hill” on Saturday, May 11th, from 11 a.m.- to 11 p.m. At Tamaqua Area High School Stadium. The occasion is open to the general public and can pay tribute to those fighting the war on most cancers, even remembering those who’ve lost. This is the twenty-sixth year for the occasion that had a change of call to reflect the Anthracite Region and the towns that contain it. Admission is free. The other signature event is the Luminaria Ceremony, where humans purchase luminarias in honor or reminiscence of a person affected by most cancers. The candles inside the luminaria baggage are lit and located across the track’s perimeter. The ceremony, which begins at 8:30 p.M., will feature guest speaker Olivia Wolfe, a student at Jim Thorpe High School who lost her brother Hunter Wolfe to most cancers, even as Leilani Chesonis will share her vocal talent.

**Students enrolled in SHINE of Luzerne County at Wilkes University will cap their year by competing in a STEM Olympiad on May 11. Challenges at the occasion will build on capabilities learned in the STEAM curriculum the students have worked with for the duration of the faculty or at the after-school facilities. The event may be held from nine a.m. To midday at Wilkes University’s Arnaud C. Marts Center, 292 S Franklin St, Wilkes-Barre. *The South Creek Lions will host the annual Mother’s Day Weekend Dinner on Saturday, May eleventh. The menu comprises Turkey & Roast Beef, A vegetable, gravy, and baked beans. Coleslaw, homemade bread, pies, and more. The door opens at 4:30 pm. * RiverFolk Concerts and The Cooperage Project are pleased to have Cliff Eberhardt acting with Louise Mosrie on Sunday, May 19, 2019, at the Cooperage in Honesdale! * The Intergalactic Board Game Day is returned at The Cooperage. On Saturday, May 11, 2019, revel in board video games, mind games, and card games from noon to nine 00 pm.
